[livejournal.com profile] jya_bd_cp_ttgb is collecting reminisces of Don S. Davis (the actor who played General Hammond, recently deceased).

Oh, David Bowie, your sexual self-presentation amuses me so greatly (Yes, somebody has been having fun on YouTube).

You know, normally living on a budget of $400 a month for EVERYTHING doesn't really bother me that much. That said, I just got laid (for the first time in ohgodwaytoolong) and now that I have had a lovely nap, I want SO BADLY to eat at a WILDLY expensive restaurant (anything over 5 dollars is wildly expensive for me. I mostly just want, like, a chicken burger or something. But an actual MEAL that I DIDN'T COOK). Suddenly, for the first time in my life, the idea of making him buy me dinner seems to make sense. Except that "I always want good food afterwards and I'm SO BROKE" is really not the actual historical reason for that little cultural law. This is, I suppose, a problem with wanting to get laid and not wanting to date (and, if I did want to date, having Issues with dating and gender assumptions).

Well ... as someone who LIKES paying for stuff when I'm out on a date. I'd say you should just do whatever feels right for both of you and don't restrict your possibilities just because there's some rule written in the book of Ultra Good Feminism or something. I really don't believe that every instance of someone paying for a woman's dinner is somehow contributing to the oppression of women. Neither of you should feel like he should HAVE to pay, but if he wants to pay (having nothing to do with whether or not you're broke), then don't sweat it too much.
