SPN 3x13. Well. That was. Uh.

Quick note: Thank you so much, everybody. That whole "outpouring of sympathy" thing really does work wonders.
Is it just me, or was this one a little... boring? I actually, um *sheepish* fast-forwarded until Sam and Dean showed up. And whenever they weren't on screen.
I think I would have enjoyed it more if I got more of the references. I mean, I was sitting here going "Ooh! Deer head on the wall! Isn't that... a reference to... uh... something?" so there was some enjoyment lost there. I also think I might have enjoyed it if I was a reality TV fan, but the shaky-cam and the faux-reality look and the overly confusing shots just give me hives. I want to see my boys, dammit. That means I want to actually see them, not blurry poorly-lit weirdly-angled snatches of them.
Though there was a lot to love, of course. Like Dean swearing like a sailor... just like we KNOW he does. Or "chisel-chest." I TOTALLY want an icon of that, plus an appropriate image. Hee. And there was just enough of our boys really being our boys- the reference to two months left, the "Sammy!" yell, Dean being no-nonsense badass, Sam's stunningly brilliant straight-faced insult at the end... it's like there was just enough in this episode to whet my appetite, just not satisfy it. I guess I would have liked it more if it had been a bit of light hearted relief in the middle of a string of episodes- it just wasn't enough of my boys to satisfy me after a hiatus.
Except the whole "gay love pierces the veil of death" and Dean covering the camera were LOVE LETTERS to the fans. Big sparkly pink heart-covered LOVE LETTERS to the fandom. SERIOUSLY. *loves forever*

Date: 2008-04-25 09:08 pm (UTC)I had the same thought! Though I phrased it in my head more as, "Kripke really needs to stop stalking his fanbase."
(Hope you're doing okay!)
