Happy Halloween! If you haven't already seen it, go watch Zombie Jamboree. Also, fic where Adam is a zombie, and fic where Tommy is a vampire. They are both excellent, because blue_soaring is one of the best Adam/Tommy authors out there.

I continue in my struggle to figure out how to stop procrastinating and actually get my work done. Signs are not good. But I absolutely love my life right now, so that's okay.

On a less happy note: Okay, now Glee is just FUCKING with me. So much potential for awesome, so much fail in execution! The only good thing to come out of that is the fact that I've now heard Anthony Head singing Sweet Transvestite. Dynamite. (I had known he played the role, but I knew that back before I had seen any Buffy, so I didn't care)

Indeed. I spoke to at least one person who really enjoyed it and felt bad for bringing him down, but... DUDE, that had problems.

Yes, it was disappointing. :-( Although it was kind of cool finally getting to hear Jenna Mays sing, and Kurt really was awesome as Riff Raff. Overall, though - sigh.

On the other hand, have now spent a lovely morning watching Youtube clips of Anthony Stewart Head singing, thanks to you! Yay!

I meant to answer your email about it, but then I talked with bdblack and he really enjoyed it, and I basically went all Humorless Liberal Feminist Grrr on his ass and harshed his squee. And, uh, felt bad about it. Because I've talked to a bunch of people whose stance was basically, "Well, they had to censor it for TV obviously, but they did okay and wow I had fun," so I'm not sure if I'm being unreasonable by pointing out how dismally bad I found it, you know? Because you're right- Yaay Emma! Yaay Kurt! Yaay Mercedes!

But still, in what world do you toss around "tranny" and then censor "transsexual" from the song? And in what world do you spend an hour with your characters talking about how much they *love* Rocky Horror, but making it clear at every point in the writing that this is bad and Scary and Inappropriate and Wrong and Uncomfortable and to be feared and changed and backed away from? And after you spend a whole hour talking about how Inappropriate this material is (which, lets be clear, in at least once instance that means: how Inappropriate this *person* is, such that we can call him a tranny but couldn't possibly actually show him in character, in his own costume, introducing himself in his own words) then HOW- HOW THE FUCK- do you get away with claiming "but it's okay that we did that because it's not about pushing boundaries or making anyone uncomfortable! It's about Finding Community!" Bullshit, Glee. That's just intellectually dishonest.

Er. *cough* Right. Sorry. This is why I didn't email you- apparently I froth, and I can't seem to help it.

I just finished recording a Giles-centric podfic piece for Sweet Charity which has actually made me somewhat interested in the character and in watching more Buffy. (I've never seen anything past Season 2.) I had no idea he'd ever played that role. Interesting.

I absolutely recommend more Buffy! It's great fun. I don't know much about the fandom, though, because I watched it so late (less than two years ago). But Head is pretty deeply fantastic, I think, even apart from his Buffy role.
