This is not the Best Thing Ever, but it is at least in the running. (NPH and Barrowman stage a massive Twitter war. Nathan Fillion, Felicia Day, and Alyson Hannigan side with Neil. Gaimon sides with Barrowman. Whedonesque and SyFy weigh in. After Elton has pictures. Of course After Elton has pictures)

Look, I voted for Sir Ian McKellen several days ago and if I were to change it, it would be to George Takei. I'm just saying.

But if John and Neil really want this resolved once and for all, I'd say naked wrestling is the way to go.

"Did I know you, before?"

"Hmm? No. You were in Russia the first time I came here." And, for all intents and purposes, dead the second time. But that wasn't really an appropriate topic of conversation at this precise moment in time.

"Good."

Before Rodney had a chance to ask exactly what the hell that was supposed to mean, Daniel leaned in and kissed him.

Rodney leaned into it for a guilty minute, and then pulled away. "I feel like I should warn you, there's probably a good chance that you hate me."

Daniel frowned. "Why is that? You said I didn't even know you."

"Not personally, no. But I'm sure you've heard of me, and those people who brought you back through the gate aren't exactly my biggest fans."

"Well, apparently I managed to forgive Teal'c for shooting my wife. Whatever you did can't be worse than that."

"Huh. Actually, that's true."

Can I butt in and mention that this looks like a really interesting story? I love the idea of getting the two mouthiest SG characters together and seeing who wins the snarkfest.

Thanks! It's turning out very different from what I expected when I had the original plotbunny (which was essentially a hurt/comfort tag to Sunday); my brain just zeroed in on season-seven Daniel, still trying to figure out where he fits in, and pre-Atlantis Rodney, who's managed to partly redeem himself but is still an outsider, and boom; sparks.

I'm really enamored of the idea of them starting something up then, and having this long, casual relationship (kind of like they do in [livejournal.com profile] pegasus_b but more mutually-agreed-fuckbuddies rather than manpain and pining) that slots into various bits of canon from both shows.

[For the record? These two are amazingly fun to write together. I am very sad that I was late to the party with [livejournal.com profile] pegasus_b]

"It must be nice," Rodney said, idly trailing a hand down Daniel's back.

"What's that?"

"Sex, without all the baggage."

Daniel raised an eyebrow. "I wouldn't know the difference."

"Right, sorry." Rodney fell silent for a minute, but his brain wouldn't stop tick-tick-ticking, and he had to know. "Is that why you picked me? Because we don't have... baggage?"

"I picked you because you talked to me. Everyone else is afraid, for one reason or another. You just... are."

"Oh. Am what?"

"Chatty. Although I'm staring to think that may have been a mistake." He yawned and stretched, as if to emphasize the point, and then slung a leg over Rodney's hip. "You know, if you're going to keep me awake anyway, you might as well make yourself useful."

"What, again? Seriously?"

Daniel smirked. "I have a year to catch up on."
