I was deeply disapointed with RDA's performance in much of S8, for very much the same reasons as you. And I totally have to fanwank a lot of it away, because I like Jack, and I don't want to not-like him the way I would not-like him if that was the way he really was. If that makes any sense.
On the other hand, that moment of "a little more time in Danny's world" is pretty much the crowning Moment of Daniel Awesome.
