dragojustine: (Going mad feels like)

Stayed up till 5 in the morning to get only about 2k more of Yuletide written. To be fair, [livejournal.com profile] bdblack was distracting me in a sort of MASSIVE way. Still, have 4k to go. Send help.

Anybody who sees me on chat tonight is perfectly welcome to tell me, "Dammit, woman, write!" Also, you are heartily encouraged to say, "Ooh, copy and paste at me! I'll correct your typos and say helpful things!" Or perhaps that only happens in my fantasies.

[livejournal.com profile] bdblack sent me cookies! A huge bag of cookies, more cookies than I can eat in a month, cookies made from three kinds of chocolate! Also a card praying for the Flying Spaghetti Monster to watch over me and protect me in his noodly appendage.

I think I'll keep him.

Every once in awhile a list of fifty or a hundred things goes around, like that "100 foods everybody should try" meme or the "100 greatest books" meme. This time, it's Empire Magazine's 50 greatest TV shows ever.

The instructions, for those of us who forgot from the last go through:
1. Bold the shows you've watched (for my purposes: I've watched all of it, or at least one whole season until it got bad enough that I deliberately decided to stop watching)
2. Italic the shows you've seen at least one episode of.
3. Strikeout the shows you wouldn't watch even if somebody paid you.
4. (My addition) Underline the shows you have on the list, or desperately want to watch, or are currently trying to acquire.

Well, it happens to me a fair amount, actually. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] synecdochic and [livejournal.com profile] kazbaby, I'm conditioned to hear the AIM chime and instantly swing into encouraging yet sincere & rational squee mode as large chunks of text are pasted at me. If you think it'd help, feel free to ping me – I'll be around tonight after about 9 eastern as keensecateurs.

Don't worry; our criteria are *slightly* different than theirs . Seriously though, you have some great shows on your "will watch someday soon" list. (And you wouldn't watch Lost, huh? Has JJ previously pissed you off, or do you just have the sense not to trust him?)

I shall have to thank them for conditioning you! Fandom needs more people like that. (I am a good beta but lousy cheerleader).

I deeply despise shows where the writers don't know what's going on, but just feel the need to throw out red herrings and mystery-for-the-sake of mystery. If the writers can't put AT LEAST as much thought into their own damn mytharc as I do, I don't want a thing to do with them. *nod* It's why I swore off the new BSG.

I heard my mother summarize Lost after the first half a season and I said, "It's gonna break your heart. There are no answers there. It's showing all the warning signs." She didn't believe me. I'm still smug about it.

I have to confess, I really, really like doing it. I like squeeing in general, but I particularly like squeeing when I can do it wholeheartedly. You know – when you can look at something with that realistic concrit eye and still find it good and mighty and eminently squeeworthy, and you're allowed to say so! Now that is cool. (Hi, my name is Kate, and I'm a squee junkie.)

ETA: spelling checked at no extra charge – I try to earn my keep.

You know, there are WAY worse things to be a junkie for than squee.

I'm being kept? I _knew_ cookies were a good idea.
