I've seen the new doctor only in the "pilot" and the first of the 2-parter on the angels. I wasn't overly impressed with the pilot but that was mostly the writing and pacing that I found frustrating. I was scared when I saw that they were planning another weeping angels story because Blink is the best episode of television I've ever seen. In my whole life. I love it that much. I did manage to catch the first of the 2 parter and, well, they sort of captured the scariness when the angel starts moving towards towards the camera but...everything else was horrible. I haven't been able to work up the courage to watch the 2nd half and you've just convinced me that perhaps I shouldn't.
Do you remember Marth and her agency?
THANK YOU! Martha has been, hands down, my favorite companion because she had accomplishments and a brain and a life outside the doctor. She wasn't an empty shell who signed on with the Doctor because it was better than washing her hair. I wish they hadn't gone the unrequited love route with her but even with that I loved her to tiny pieces because she came to the deal as much an equal with the Doctor as any human was ever going to.
And once she leaves the Doctor -- because she recognizes this is not healthy for her and she DOES something to get herself out of it -- she still has a fascinating life and accomplishes even more. I love her. :)
Do you remember Donna, and what it felt like to have an adult on the screen, defined not even one little bit by her sexuality?
That was wonderfully refreshing, wasn't it? If only she hadn't spent so much time declaring that she was nobody and not special and just so friggin' ordinary and unimportant, she'd have given Martha a run for Best Loved Companion in my book.
The more pictures I see of Adam Lambert, the prettier he is. :)
