Glad to hear you'll be enjoying a live performance, too. Mine will be in Kansas City, so I'm quite a ways from you. Someday I'm going to make it to the Pacific Northwest, if for no other reason than to visit Powell's in Portland.
I agree that involving Allison - at least at this age - in fic is something that has to be handled carefully, especially since the others are older, unlike in Potter fic. I'm really looking forward to hearing her at the concert, since I think she and Adam sound great together. I've been reading voraciously today and I love Kris-Allison-Adam frienship fic. And Kris-Adam friendship. And I laughed my head off at Neil in Close Encounters. Having Adam for an older brother must be interesting right now.
I agree that Adam/Brad is probably the pairing least likely to stir up a hornet's nest, since it doesn't involve infidelity, Adam with someone not out, or making him hetero. And I completely understand why that option is problematic with U.S. cultural assumptions/norms/mores, and I'm not sure I would be interested in reading that unless it came from an author I trust.
This is the first time since discovering participatory fandom that I've become fannish about someone real other than as an extension of their character, so this fandom is making me question the assumptions I've been operating under in Gateverse and SPN fandom. I'm not an acafan, and I read fic mostly for my id, but I've found that fanfic has actually made me a more active, questioning reader, and all the discussion I read about the Lambda Literary Awards this spring apparently came back to poke me. Thanks for telling me what you think about it.
