Merry Christmas!

Just watched the Lost Treasure of the Grand Canyon. And, okay, it isn't as bad as MegaSnake or Sumuru, but it sure as hell ain't good. You know, if I were Michael Shanks, I would have started to object to being typecast quite a while ago (probably at least by the time they had him talk about Sumer and Babylon on Eureka- then again, didn't he play somebody totally different in Judicial Indiscretion? Maybe I should watch that). That is, if I wasn't busy objecting to being cast in such crappy movies.

Confidential to Michael Shanks:
Dear Michael,

Please, for the love of God, get a better agent. Also, your fake snooty British accent has not improved with age. I still love you, though

End of SGA has leaked. Have not yet watched it. Won't, til after the New Year. Am trying not to think about it. V. sad.

This is probably the single best peice of writing meta I have ever seen, and has somehow managed to make all my difficulties with plot crystal clear to me, when a thousand writing metas haven't before.

You know how I said I was done with the [livejournal.com profile] sga_santa recs? I lied. Go read Short and Stout right now. Do not attempt to drink anything while you read it.

yes to MS needing a better agent.

and yes to the solving-puzzle problem being hard when it comes to plot!!! thanks for the excuse to reread that post about plot. i heart resonant. the angry wombat makes me lol every damn time.

we need to be puzzle CREATORS. not puzzle solvers. sigh.

*hugs*

>puzzle CREATORS, not puzzle solvers.

You know, it seems so obvious, but that post hit me like a ton of bricks. Like, "OH! That's why this plot thing keeps not working!" A complete revelation.

*hugs*

you know, despite your warning...I was drinking - tea. (switching back to coffee now, but boy that made me smile and sigh...good rec)

Thanks for the point in the right plotty direction. You're just full of good ideas.

oh, and. Eureka? for real? must've been under a rock at the time...when was that?

It was the "All that Glitters" episode, just this past season. He was playing, IIRC, an erudite sculptor/bronze caster in stuble and heavy working gloves who tallked a lot about the Babylonian science of alchemy. I still think that little guest spot- all, like, two scense of it- is one of the sexiest things he's yet done.

It totally looked like Beneath The Surface 2.

:)

My god, you're right. That's EXACTLY what it looked like.

Heh, I watched MS last night, too. At least he's working!

That meta about plot may possibly change the direction of one of my current stories. I may have been leaning towards resolving things too quickly. Thanks for that link and the new sga_santa one as well. I read a few of the other ones you recced last night. :-)

I'm glad these links are actually helpful to somebody! I never can tell.

(And yeah. I just watched Under the Mistletoe. Which... what a HORRIBLE movie, and yet seeing MS as a romantic lead was so sexy it was actually physically painful for me to watch. *sigh* at least he's working)

There are reasons why I have been known to announce triumphantly: "All wombats are now in play!"
