*Just watched "Birthright" (7x10) for the first time. My "I love Teal'c, but just cannot eroticize him" problem, it is GONE. That man looks like an utterly amazing kisser. Christopher Judge's lips + Jolene Blalock's lips = hot beyond the telling of it.

*Every time I watch SG1, I am stunned anew by how sexy Michael Shanks is, and by Jack and Daniel's fantastic comic timing and subtle eye-contact/eyebrow plays off each other.

*jd_junkie wrote me "Jack and Daniel watch Wormhole X-treme together." And lo, it is adorable.

*There is a very good discussion on writing smut going on here. I disagree on one point, but not drastically. The real thing to come out of this, though, was my realization that I really WANT to write het porn, and have just been stopped by The Terminology Problem. If anybody has solutions to The Terminology Problem, I would love to hear them. *sigh*

*I am continuing to delay my spn_nostalgia commitment. Apparently, I am not as good at being polyfannish as I thought. FAIL. The more I try to write Sam/Dean, the more Jack/Daniel bunnies assault me. I have come up with FIVE I could write right now, in just the last hour, while getting not even a paragraph of Sam/Dean done with.

Oh, man, I hear you on the Terminology Problem. I have finally, after years, just thrown up my hands and said fuck it; I have embraced the words "cunt" and "clit", because there is No Better Choice and at least they are pleasantly euphonious.

Yes. I just... I do not mind porn that fades into anatomical vagueness (sometimes it works for the tone, sometimes it's right for the character), but I object to fading my porn into anatomical vagueness just because the words DON'T EXIST. I have such massive faith in language-- it just can't be possible that words with the right connotations DON'T EXIST!

Jack and Daniel's comic and dramatic timing is much loved by RDA, who has euologised Michael's understanding of their rhythms many times in interviews.
They feed we slashers good stuff. :-))

Oooh, RDA has said that? Because yes. They play off each other so well- they have this great ability to do line/beat/look/eyebrow/look away that speaks whole conversations (and tends to make me want to die laughing). I'm so glad to hear they enjoyed playing with that!

Yeah, RDA said several times that he and Michael had the best understanding of rhythms on set. That Michael "was there to race." He's also said Michael was the best for dealing with his inability to follow a script. Much mutual admiration, methinks.
A also love the great comment from CJ on the Abyss DVD commentary, where he says RDA and Michael brought out the best in each other. Something like, "Michael is the consummate professional who takes apart every beat of every line, while Rick is just an old guy who refuses to look bad." :-)

The only solution to the Terminology Problem I've found has been to treat it purely as a character issue, and use whatever word the POV character would use.

(In the case of one fic I beta-ed for, this actually resulted in the author and betas polling various male friends and partners re: word choice.)

Also, eroticizing Teal'c is for the win.
