SPN/Numb3rs drabble
For the crossover drabble-a-thon, SPN/Numb3rs, 188 words, gen
"Dean, I know there's a pattern here. Just... let me work on it, okay? Maybe I can predict the next one."
The man clicked off his cellphone, returned to work, long lanky form hunched over a battered laptop. Charlie thought "hell, go for it" and walked over.
"Can I have a look?"
So it turned out he was a private investigator, and some of the data points he was working with were the same ones Don had handed him only two days ago. But this guy had a lot more of them, enough to reveal the pattern, and he was desperate for Charlie to help him stop the rash of deaths.
Charlie was in the middle of explaining to the kid how to combine his real-world data from traffic and weather patterns with some basic vector calculus when someone came up behind them.
"Dude! You've just been out-geeked, Sammy!"
Once Charlie got out of the building, he clutched his cellphone, felt his voice shake. "Don? You know the Most Wanted list in your office? I just met Dean Winchester, and he's working on the same case you are."
