A cry for help
Does anyone know any fangirls in Manhattan? I'd just like to get dinner and/or watch something fannish with somebody. I don't even know who to ask who might know local people- I've done such a bad job paying attention to actual geographic locations of people I talk to online.
(Hell, I'll go one better: does anybody know a fangirl in Manhattan who wants to see Adam Lambert, Staten Island on Tuesday, but is too broke to go? I will totally shell out for two scalped tickets if there's anybody like that. I'm not above paying for someone to squee with.)

I feel for you, and know you will make friends!
I actually know one girl who just moved there as well, for grad school at Columbia in public health. She's about as far from a fangirl as you can get (i'm totally not out to her, ha), but she's an awesome person. She's into going out, shopping, fashion, belly dancing, adventures, etc, and is thoughtful and smart and curious about the world. We hung out and watched Project Runway and did happy hour a lot, and she's fun to shop with, too. So, she wouldn't be an Adam concert person, but I think you'd like her!
Sound like someone you'd want to get connected with? At least to get coffee or explore the city or commiserate with over being new and alone. Let me know!

And haha, dude, I will totally go see Adam with you if you don't have someone else, I almost bought tickets myself the other day and then they all vanished, sob! *g*

One fast way to find fannish people at Columbia is to come to meetings of the Science Fiction Society. (Full disclosure: I am an officer, although I won't say which in an unlocked post. *g*) I'll be living with a bunch of fellow fangirls in the Geek Suite and will be happy to have you over for our planned series of Geek Dinners if you would like to come!
