A cry for help

Does anyone know any fangirls in Manhattan? I'd just like to get dinner and/or watch something fannish with somebody. I don't even know who to ask who might know local people- I've done such a bad job paying attention to actual geographic locations of people I talk to online.

(Hell, I'll go one better: does anybody know a fangirl in Manhattan who wants to see Adam Lambert, Staten Island on Tuesday, but is too broke to go? I will totally shell out for two scalped tickets if there's anybody like that. I'm not above paying for someone to squee with.)

Oh, Justine, sadness!!!

I feel for you, and know you will make friends!

I actually know one girl who just moved there as well, for grad school at Columbia in public health. She's about as far from a fangirl as you can get (i'm totally not out to her, ha), but she's an awesome person. She's into going out, shopping, fashion, belly dancing, adventures, etc, and is thoughtful and smart and curious about the world. We hung out and watched Project Runway and did happy hour a lot, and she's fun to shop with, too. So, she wouldn't be an Adam concert person, but I think you'd like her!

Sound like someone you'd want to get connected with? At least to get coffee or explore the city or commiserate with over being new and alone. Let me know!

I know it's hard

But write astolat. Even if she's way too crazy busy, she'll know other NewYork fans to point you towards. Please feel free to say I told you so -- when she was over to the house the day after the concert, I told her about you, and that you were moving there. Do It.

Hiii! In fact I think we might be doing some kind of get-together this coming week because lierdumoa is in town! tell me your email and I will add you to my own CC list at least. :D And join the lj comm brunch_time (er, it might be brunchtime) which is a sort of general NYC crew comm -- we are sporadic about it but often will post about gatherings there, I can approve your membership.

And haha, dude, I will totally go see Adam with you if you don't have someone else, I almost bought tickets myself the other day and then they all vanished, sob! *g*

I am not in NYC, but rather upstate. If you find yourself near Syracuse (I'm slightly Southeast of there), you will please let me know! Also I will let you know if I head down to the city at any point. I think I do owe Raqs a visit on Long Island, come to think of it.

Hi hi I'm here too! I'm about as far from being able to go to an Adam Lambert concert as I've ever been--new baby, school starting next week--but I do coffee and television and walks in the park and stuff. :) And there's a load of other fangirls who live here too.

Hihihihi! I am out of town at the moment, but will be back when Barnard's semester starts and would love more fangirls on campus! What's the best way to contact you?

One fast way to find fannish people at Columbia is to come to meetings of the Science Fiction Society. (Full disclosure: I am an officer, although I won't say which in an unlocked post. *g*) I'll be living with a bunch of fellow fangirls in the Geek Suite and will be happy to have you over for our planned series of Geek Dinners if you would like to come!

also, raqs does not have a DW but is on LJ, and she asked me to point you to her. Her other fandom pseudonym is dith.

you may know her very excellent J/D?

but feel free to check her out on LJ. She is in the NY area too.

I see your cry for NYC fannish friends took you to the top of the food chain, lol.... you go, girl.....;)

Astolat has dibs, then, but if she passes it up, I'm on deck! And yes, I'll be at the thing tomorrow, though probably a bit late due to work.

Here via - I am a NYC girl too, and thought I am not able to go to Tuesday's show, I am also an Adam fan. And a millions-of-other-things fan. my DW account is sparse these days, but friend me on LJ! (I need to get back in the habit of cross-posting...)

Would love to have hangouts and squee!
