i myself worked as a secretary for nine months for a pittance during the that cataclysmic recession 25 years ago that hit just as i got out of college.... then i did find a job in my field and all was well.
i have a friend who got out of college with a degree in a very specialized field just as the huge recession hit that field. he couldn't get a job and ended up joining the military. but then, after he got out, he went to grad school and now is extremely successful and rich.
