I respect Dodger a lot, but she takes any criticism of John personally in a way that is really hard to talk around... It's odd to me- not the investing heavily in characters part, because I COMPLETELY overinvest emotionally in characters, it's just that the characters who I do get that fanatically attached to are usually the ones I see as the most complex and flawed. Needing to think a character you love is perfect is odd to me. If I really thought a character was as perfect as she apparently thinks John is, I would be bored by him. Anyway, I feel like a total jerk for posting that now, and I'm debating going back to apologize but I think I'll leave it. I think you were pretty calm there too, if it helps.
