Good luck to you too! Hopefully you can find your way back to fandom- I'm always sad when I'm away for too long.
I was raised _very_ Mormon, and my parents and I screamed about religion pretty much non stop from when I was 12 until I was 18 and they gave up on my eternal soul forever. Mom locked herself in her room for three days crying about how she'd lost her daughter. Which, I don't know, I come home twice a year and call her every week and we actually quite like each other and get along well now that she's given up, so... yaay? But it's a very strange culture, not evil and satanic or even quite as cult-like as it's sometimes portrayed, just... ODD. And it feels normal while you're raised in it, obviously, so you pretty much have to leave to realize just how doctrinally and culturally quirky it is. I have a certain fondness, still, I admit- I knew too many good people, I can't make myself hate the church the way lots of ex-Mos do.
