Yuletide!

I missed the deadline to sign up for Muskrat Jamboree. AND I missed the deadline to sign up for SGA_santa. AND I had to skip the jdficathon months ago. Dammit, I WILL do Yuletide. It's been the highlight of my entire year for three years in a row now, and I will NOT let law school take that away from me.

So!

Dear Yuletide Santa,

First, thank you SO MUCH for agreeing to write for me! Anything you write in these fandoms will make me so happy, and I'm really looking forward to it. I'm very easy to please and I read pretty much any genre. Optional details are, as they say, optional, just because I know I like it better as a writer when I get to hear my giftee ramble a bit about the things that make them happy.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles

I would really like fic set in the first season. There was a very particular feel about the first season: it was just so claustrophobic. These four people thrown together in an intense, entangled, emotionally incestuous relationship with all this stuff turned inward, you know? They were too dependent on each other and too many things too each other and anything you want to write that preserves that season 1 entanglement would be great. (Minor characters are fine too, if that's too claustrophobic- Ellison, Jesse, and Charley were love)

I'd especially love Derek/John, which hits the sweet spot of that "too many things to each other" emotionally incestuous vibe. They each see the other as their last link to Kyle, for one thing, and John is leaning on Derek as a father figure and guide to the future (which Derek is not equipped to be) at the same time as Derek has an already-tangled relationship with the adult John (which John doesn't have any way to understand). BUT Derek/Sarah and John/Cameron and Sarah/Cameron hit many of the same buttons there. OR day-to-day life gen OR something from Derek's POV about the re-adjustment shock OR something set in the future with Derek!

Bend it like Beckham

Uh, really, I just want girlslash. (Honestly, you offered Bend it like Beckham. What did you think you were going to get asked for?)

If not girlslash, day-to-day life gen is good, and so is "Joe comes to visit them in the states" as long as the relationship between the girls- sexual or friendship- stays important! (Thought: threesome?)

Vorkosigan

I love these books. There's just so much to them and so many utterly amazing characters. Seriously, how many people are there to just adore here? Cordelia, Alys, Aran, Ivan, Gregor, Illyan, Bothari, Tara, Quinn, Bel, Mark, the Koudelkas... any characters who you really love, from Miles' generation or the older generation, would be great for a story.

If you want a specific request, I'd love Dono. I think Dono, By, and Olivia were by far the best part of Civil Campaign, and their story from an insider POV would be just fascinating. (I'm especially intrigued given that we have no indication that the sex change has to do with Donna's own inclinations or perception of her own gender rather than political/social forces, and no real confirmation that she ever identified as other than straight. It makes me think that the three of them must have some very interesting and non-standard arrangement between them.)

Rome

You should note that I'm just about unsquickable (can you really be more horrifying than canon?) and I'm really all slash, all the time in this fandom. Vorenus/Pullo forever! I love them both so deeply, Vorenus strong but brittle, proud and tragic, and Pullo forming the loyal faithful heart of the show.

BUT I love the historical characters as well. I'm a bit of an ancient Rome geek, and I think all the historical men (I'm a little more ambivalent about the women) are beautifully written and beautifully cast. Antony in particular- he just drips sex, and I adore the way he uses it as a weapon (Antony/Vorenus? Antony/Octavian?). And the young Octavian was just genius.

Thank you again, Yuletide writer!
