dragojustine: (Reality ruins my life)
I know I've been absent. There will be fic- actually, I'm writing my ST exchange fic now (yes. It's late. Yes. I know)

Here is what's going on:

Moved back to Seattle. Yaay!

Road trip across rockies. Western South Dakota unexpectedly awesome. Yaay!

Living with parents is much nicer than when I was a teenager, mostly because they've given up on me. No more religious feuding. Cute puppy dog. Little sister much nicer than when I was a teenager too. All good things.

New temp job is beaureaucratic hell which leaves no time for writing, reading, friends, fandom, or anything. I miss you all badly. Boo.

Could not scrape together the money for Comic-con. Terribly terribly sad. Was looking forward to that all year.

Got 179 on LSAT. Law school looking not so out of reach after all.

Torchwood: Children of Earth was sad and cruel and sadistic and horrible and I bawled like a baby and I hated it and OMFG, how awesome was that? (Also, is possible I was overly emotionally invested in Ianto)

Stranger in a Strange Fandom has posted its third round, which amuses me greatly.

Am making a heroic commitment to be online more, do some fandom reading, do some writing, because I miss it, but you know.

Also: Thank you so much to everybody who sent me messages or left comments asking what's up. I didn't answer because I have no gmail or lj at work and because the internet connection at home is down something like 30% of the time, but really, it made me happy.
dragojustine: (Clever)
I kind of adore character meta that comes from different ways of organizing/categorizing characters, by whatever psychological classification you use. I could eat that type of meta up with a spoon.

Take, for example, Harry Potter Hogwarts houses - Torchwood, Dr Who, SPN, SGA, SG1 )

Or Myers-Briggs, for instance )

But I just read another categorization framework I found interesting )

So let's apply it to Jack and Daniel )

Why I find this interesting: )

Jesus, I will SHUT UP now.

I am so freakin sad about the cancellation of SGA. I mean, I will miss those characters! But then again, SGA is pretty much the epitome of a "fic is better than the show" fandom, and I almost like SGA better the less of it I watch, so, you know...

Vid stuff, from VVC con reports I've seen )

Aw, I bitch about nobody loving me and suddenly people come out of the woodwork to tell me they love me. *happy* Done being an attention whore now.

Even if you don't watch Torchwood, you should read this!

Trying to Communicate by [personal profile] sam_storyteller   is almost certainly (I can't be positive, but the chances are very high) the funniest Torchwood fic ever written- and if you know of funnier, HAND IT OVER!

Whole family here now for a week. Huge logistical hassles that are really really giving me a headache and making it seem like the living situation for the next two months is going to be significantly less pleasant than I was led to believe. Ah, joy. Good to see C again though.

I am DONE with the horrible job. In half an hour I run out to have lunch with Rob.

From there I am driving up to Ventura for [livejournal.com profile] escapade_con and oh God I'm so excited I could throw up. There's going to be a Torchwood pizza party and panels and, I have no doubt, awesome people to meet and EEEEEE.

(Random: I babbled about Torchwood at ludicrous length in comments to [livejournal.com profile] technosage here and here. Just for me to keep track of, pay no mind)
dragojustine: (Jack Harkness)
I just watched seven straight hours of Torchwood. I spent practically the entire time dancing about making noises audible only to dogs. I have NEVER BEEN SO HAPPY. Jack/Ianto is my new greatest OTP of all time. Seriously, I think I love them more than Sirius/Remus (the previous holders of the all-time crown).

Jack/Ianto is my HAPPY PLACE now. I just... I have NO WORDS.

If I start typing, I will keep typing for pages and pages and pages and pages about the joy of this show, so I won't start. And if I list all the Ianto moments I love, I will list EVERY LINE the man has spoken.

But one thing is just cracking me right up:About SPN, spoilery for TW 2x7 )

I would PAY someone SO MUCH to write me that porn. Surely there is someone out there who finds this set-up as hilarious as I do? Somebody? (she says, into the cavernous echo of her non-TW-fans flist)
dragojustine: (Jack Harkness)
I took the day off work yesterday because I was utterly desperate to have a day ALONE. I have been going to into full introvert-panic mode because Dustin has been home so much recently and I spent all weekend at the con with 1000 people.

And so, of course, Dustin took the day off work too. )

A long spoilery Torchwood meta about Ianto )

ETA:And of course, the minute I write all this, [livejournal.com profile] poisontaster metas it better and [livejournal.com profile] technosage writes it. My flist, they are BRILLIANT.

QUESTION: If you were the manager of many many employees, would you set a HUGE MAJOR deadline for midnight on February 14th? As opposed to, say, 24 (or even 12!) hours earlier?

"No," you say? Congratulations! You win the "I am not a sadist" gold star. One that Dustin's boss does not win.

Ignore the girl eating Oreos and watching porn all alone tonight, okay?
